Muse Character Interview
Tell us about your family.
Are you ready for this?
I have no memory of my father. If I met him, I suspect he’d kill me on sight. He’s called Asmodeus. He’s a Prince of Hell. Thankfully, I don’t feature on his radar at all. I never knew my human mother. When I see kids with their Mom’s, I wonder sometimes what that would be like… To have someone who cared unconditionally for me. That kind of overwhelming love – I know it exists, I’ve seen it in others, but I’ve never experienced it. I guess you could say I have ‘issues’ when it comes to families. I blame my brother for that. He sold me to the demons as an infant. I don’t want to talk about him.
When Akil brought me through the veil to live here, in the human realm. You have to understand, I’d spent my childhood and early teens living among demons (if you can call being owned ‘living’). I could barely talk without growling. I had no idea what a car was; those huge machines on wheels terrified me. Everything was so bright, and clean and noisy. I don’t remember much of the early days. Akil helped me.
What are your favorite TV shows?
This is a real guilty pleasure of mine and I can’t believe I’m telling you this. My Little Pony. I know, I know, I’m meant to be a bad-ass half-demon, but c’mon. Every girl has her vices. I’ve been known to cry at MLP. Damn, I’m messed up.
What songs are most played on your Ipod?
Adele ‘Rolling In The Deep’ – The lyrics do something to me. They speak to me like I never knew music could.
What do you do to unwind and relax?
I’m a blacksmith. I forge swords, artwork, anything and everything. My element is fire, and I have an affinity with metal, so to bring both of those together just feels right. Plus, I get to hammer the hell out of metal – Great for working out after a hard day, and I’ve had plenty of those.
If you could apologize to someone in your past, who would it be?
There is someone. He tried to help me. I knew he was trouble, y’know, but… It’s too late now. He’s gone.
What would we find under your bed?
What makes you happy?
My cat, Jonesy. He’s a better judge of character than me and he has an answer for everything. It all sounds like ‘meow’ but I hear him.
What one word best describes you?
Is there a piece of advice that you have received that has really stuck with you? If so, what was it?
Akil once told me to stop trying to be something I’m not. He said I should embrace all of me, as I am, and quit worrying about my past and the scars given to me. I think that’s true for everyone. The past cannot be undone. Not even for an immortal being, like Akil. The future is all that matters. We each have the power to change the path we’re on.
