When seventeen-year-old Matt Archer set out on his last mission in the Australian Outback, he thought it would be like every other hunt.
Not even close.
After only two days on the ground, his best friend is possessed, a long-lost family member has returned and hidden truths have come to the surface. Add in a coven of witches bent on bringing about the end of the world and, well, this trip has started to suck. Badly.
As his power and strength continue to grow, so does Matt’s concern that he’s becoming more and more like the creatures he’s been charged to hunt: a monster.
Faced with some of his biggest challenges to date, Matt has to decide what he needs to protect most—his family, his team…or himself.
I do not know how she does it, but Kendra always comes up with riveting adventures for Matt and his bestie, Will. I have read all the books in this series; always with eager anticipation to devour the next one, too. I love the action and the adventure best. The fast pace keeps my interest and the story rarely, if ever, lags. I can always count on Kendra to keep expanding the scope and scale of each new book; adding detail to the alternate Earth in which the action takes place.
I think Matt is learning, and growing into a fine young man. I love the family dynamics; especially Matt’s complicated feelings about his father. While the love abounds, duty can sometimes cause Matt and those close to him to struggle with mixed emotions. For me, this adds depth and believability to the story. Even Tink seems to be evolving, becoming slightly less rigid. I am pleased that she and Matt are solidifying their partnership; each better utilizing the other’s strengths.
This book was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.
