Realm Walker by Kathleen Collins: Character Interview

Character Interview – Juliana Norris

Morning Person? Or Night Person? How do you know?

Definitely a night person. All Altered tend to be, you know. Old habits die hard.

Is there a piece of advice that you have received that has really stuck with you? If so, what was it?

Nathaniel West was the Realm Walker in charge of my training. One particularly crappy day he said, “We’ll have a lot of bad days on this job. We’ll have days where we get filthy and have spells flung at us and just miss getting killed. There will even be days we don’t agree with our duty. But then there will be a day you get to save someone that needs saving. Someone for whom you are their last hope. Those days are few and far between, but they make all the rest of them worth it.”

What group did you hang out with in high school?

My best friend Sara. I lived with her at the time and her brother hired private tutors for us. I never went to a traditional high school.

What makes you happy?

Knowing the people I love are safe and secure.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

I hate being alone. Loathe it, actually.

You just won a huge lottery what is the first thing you'll buy?

A new house in a better neighborhood. Or maybe an AR-15. It’s this light weight, magazine fed, semi-automatic rifle with a…oh sorry. Yes, definitely an AR-15.

What book are you reading now?

If my boss asks, I’m refreshing myself with the Agency Policy and Procedure Manual. Really, I’m reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Nathaniel gave it to me.

What would we find under your bed?

I sleep on my couch. And I have no idea what’s under there except perhaps some giant dust bunnies.

An estranged mate, a mangled body and a powerful demon who calls her by name…

As a Realm Walker for the Agency, Juliana Norris tracks deadly paranormal quarry using her unique ability to see magical signatures. She excels at her job, but her friends worry about her mysterious habit of dying in the line of duty without staying dead. That's only the first of her secrets.

Most people don't know Juliana became the mate of master vampire Thomas Kendrick before he abandoned her seven years ago. Most people don't know the horrors she endured at the hands of the vampire he left in command. Most people don't know her true parentage, or why a demon on a world-threatening rampage has taken a personal interest in her…

Even as Juliana pursues the demon, it goes after all she holds dear—including Thomas, who is back to claim her for his own. But if she can't reconcile her past and learn to trust herself again, she will lose him forever.

About the Author:

Kathleen Collins has been writing since Kindergarten. And while her ability has drastically improved, her stories are still about monsters and the people who play with them.

The rare instances that she actually finds some spare time, she spends it playing with her two boys. Three if you count her husband.

She is currently hard at work on her next book.
