Angel decides to conjure the Devil for help, making a deal to recover her beauty. In exchange for his help, Lucifer forces her to hunt supernatural renegades, which have eluded the pits of Hell. Want to say thank you to Laurie for having me today!
Tell us about your current release.
My current release is about Angel Dias, who’s a supermodel. She gets in a car accident and her face is hideously disfigured. Angel loses everything she knows and thinks she loves in the world. In desperation, she reaches out to the dark forces and makes a deal with the Devil to get her beauty back. Like any deal with Satan, it’s not quite what she expects.
Angel falls for a hot demon. Jacque is a commander in the Legion of Hades. He has ex-girlfriend and family drama. Due to being an empathy, Jacque can’t stand to be around humans, especially females. He never expects to fall head over heels with his new charge. He gives up everything to help save Angel from Lucifer.
Tell us about a favorite character from a book.
The funny thing is my favorite characters were not the hero and heroine. My favorite characters were Isabella (
) and Xavier. Bell is Jacque’s ex. She’s badass and cutthroat. Xavier is Jacque half-brother. He’s one of the bad guys. He takes the contract to kill Jacque and Angel. X is the ultimate bad boy. Bell
My next release in this series is called Sweet Revenge. I hope to have it out by the end of October. Remember how
and X were my favorite characters? Well, I had to give them their own story. Bell
I also have a short story coming out shortly from Breathless Press, called Her Black Knight. Here is a blurb from that story.
Gwendolyn Braxton was born in the wrong century. She submerges her life into the study of the Renaissance Era. She is the resident expert on all things Arthurian in the DC Metro area, maybe even the U.S. Unfortunately, none of her knowledge helps her to find her own Knight in Shining Armor. Actually, as a Black woman in
, it runs men off like the plague. To make things worse, her mother has stepped in to fix her before she plunged into spinsterhood. Washington D.C.
Morien Knight is far from home in search of an artifact lost in history, a history he longs to emerge himself back into. His small sabbatical from his mission to participate in the Kentland Castle Resort Renaissance Faire might lead him to exactly where he belongs. Morien learns when dealing with the poetic lessons of his old friend, Merlin, things may not always exist as you expect.
Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
Absolutely. I have great critique partners. I would be lost without them. They provide that objective view you need when you’re too close to see things clearly.
Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with it?
Yes. I have a pen name. Vivi is close to my real name so I’ll remember to answer when people call me. Dumas is from Alexander Dumas the author of Count of Monte Cristo, which is one of my favorite stories.
What book are you reading now?
I’m reading Terry McMillian’s Finding Happiness the sequel to Waiting to Exhale.
If you were to write a series of novels, what would it be about?
I’m writing a few series right now. I have the Dueling with the Devil series. I’m writing the Chasing the Grail series, which Her Black Knight is a part of. I’m also working on a series called Gods of the
Nile. This will be a series about ancient Egyptian gods released from their enchanted slumber. They takeover or share the bodies of Army Special Forces soldiers to find the gods and goddess who imprisoned them in the tombs.
So as you can see I’m all over the place.
My very favorite show is Big Bang Theory. I’m a nerd at heart and love me some Sheldon Cooper.
