Charmeine Book 1 in the Light Bearer Series : Interview & Character Interview : BTS Tour Stop

Can romance develop between a Heavenly Light-Bearer and a Hellish Vampire Blood-Hunter?
Charmeine the First Novel in "The Light-Bearer Series," was released January 2012.
Tabbruis is a Blood-Hunter, he drinks blood to survive. Over millennia Tabbruis has wandered the Earth alone aimlessly living through many historical events.
Charmeine just came to the Earth in 1997, unable to remember anything.
When Tabbruis meets Charmeine the attraction is immediate and passionate. They are polar opposites and clash together in a strongly romantic and dramatic way. When she meets Tabbruis, Charmeine’s powers as a Light-Bearer, one who throws lightning, is triggered and grows exponentially.
Will Charmeine and Tabbruis fulfill their destinies?   Will they realize their importance in both the Blood-Hunter and Light-Bearer world?

(Author’s Note: Charleen is really Charmeine… she just doesn’t know it yet)
Tabbruis stared at her mainly because he was bracing for a rejection.  He leaned on terrace doors with his arms crossed and took a big breath trying to figure out why he just made the admission to her.
Tabbruis thought to himself, ‘We are so incompatible.  After she is safe, I should leave her and forget,’ but even so, he did not know if he could escape her magnetism.  It was as if she enchanted him by just one look at her beautiful face.
Charleen took a deep breath trembling from the stare of his deep emerald-green eyes.  She, quite frankly, didn’t feel worthy of him.  She felt like she was a scared and lonely 15 year-old again wandering the streets outside Holbrook, Long Island, bereft of memories of friends and family… she was incredibly alone.
Charleen wanted to run up to him and at the least, touch his troubled face before he would dismiss or reject her and send her to bed like a child.  However, she had no experience with relationships and blushed at even the thought of touching him.
Charleen got up and walked over to the railing of the terrace looking at the New York Harbor, and her long golden blonde hair whipped around her shoulders.  Still keeping her eyes on the Harbor, she said quietly, “I was found only a few years ago, not having any memory before that.  However, I’ve been alone.”
She turned looking at Tabbruis smiling with tears welling in her eyes and said, “I met Shane, but he was like a baby brother to me.  I took care of him,” she chuckled, “He was always getting into one mess after another.”
Charleen wiped her eyes and turned away from Tabbruis sighed and lowered her head saying, “Loneliness… it is torture in a way.  No, it’s worse, because at the end of the torture, you have rest.”
Charleen turned and with her tear-filled eyes looked at Tabbruis intently saying, “There is no rest from one minute of loneliness because it fills your being and wraps your heart so tight; it doesn’t want to beat because it just hurts too much to go on.”
Not waiting for his reaction, Charleen turned toward the Harbor looking away from him.
Tabbruis closed his eyes and thought, ‘My God!  She has just described all the centuries I have been on Earth in that one sentence.’
Tabbruis lowered his head and put his hands up to his face while looking up thinking, ‘God, what do I do?  Please help me?’
Still facing the Harbor and not having the courage to turn and look at him, Charleen said wiping another tear away, “I know blood-hunters and light-bearers are supposed to destroy each other, but I am hopeful you and I are… unique.”
Now, Tabbruis is the one who looked at her intently and thought, ‘What is she saying?’
Charleen could feel Tabbruis' eyes on her, but she was afraid to look him in the eye.
Keeping her head toward the Harbor, Charleen took a big breath saying, “A blood-hunter and a light-bearer we may be, but even if you do not want to admit it… there is a link between us."
Tabbruis walked up beside her to look out at the Harbor also and put his hands out on the railing next to hers.  All of a sudden, he could feel a small current from her hand into his.  Tabbruis loved the feeling of it.
Charleen looked down at her hand and thought, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m doing that.’  Then resolutely she thought, ‘I don’t care, I am not ashamed.’
Still thinking Tabbruis was going to reject her, she kept her hand still and turned to look at the Harbor saying, “Like my hand sparking next to yours, I don’t know what it is.”
Tabbruis looked at the Harbor also and said, “It would be easier to deny there is a link…” and he looked down at her hand while it sent waves of light over to his hand, “but I have to recognize there is a link between us and admit it.”
Tabbruis could feel her energy surging into him and let his hand linger there next to hers while they looked out over the Harbor.  He wanted to tell her that all those centuries of emptiness were washed away when he laid his eyes on her.
Steadying his nerves, Tabbruis reached over and picked up her right hand, and they turned to each other watching the streams of light dance around their two hands.  She began to smile and so did Tabbruis.
Charleen said softly, “This has never happened to me before.”
Tabbruis grinned saying, “Not with anyone else?”
Charleen said, “I’ve never seen the light until tonight. Do you think it’s because of you; maybe?”
Tabbruis was smiling because he was so happy, this never happened to anyone but him and it made him connect to her on a whole new level of closeness.
She said, “Does it hurt?”
Tabbruis sighed reveling in the sensation.  With a smile, he replied dreamily, “No, it feels like tingling warmth.  It is an excellent sensation.”
Charleen smiled saying, “So it’s not a self-defense reaction.” and she smiled wide saying, “It must be because my light likes you!”
Tabbruis repeated in head, ‘Because her light likes me?’  Wonderment filled Tabbruis and he smiled looking down at the twirling spirals of light.  Charleen put her left hand up and he put his other hand on it.  Her hand began to send tendrils of swirling light to his hand.
Tabbruis said, “You cannot even imagine how good it feels.”
Charleen said, “It really looks like it hurts you.”
Tabbruis said, “But I only feel warmth and tenderness.”
They stood watching their hands which were tenderly holding each other.  Their hands were doing what they wanted to do with their bodies, to be together, holding each other.

Tell us about a favorite character from a book.

I really love Dmitri, he is Tabbruis’ oldest friend.  He is a very old Blood-Hunter, has a wicked sense of humor and gives balance to the terrifying situations Tabbruis and Charmeine are in. Plus he is drop-dead gorgeous, tall, long black hair, built and deep blue eyes!  Adonis plus!

How do you describe your writing style?

Modern and contemporary is my writing style.  I like to write the way I talk.  However, the Blood-Hunters do not speak like we do.  They are more formal in their sentence and language structure.

What songs are most played on your Ipod?

Most played is the Wagner-Tristan and Isolde Prelude, Back in Black-Highway to Hell, Boston-Livin’ for You, and Alanis Morrissette –Gaurdian.

What is your favorite meal?

My favorite meal is steak, loaded baked potato, salad with ranch dressing and gin and tonic!

Are the names of the characters in your novels important?  How and why?

Yes!  The characters are mostly named from Angels’ names.  However, I use a bunch of names of people I have known in my life!  I love to use a little bit of the people I knew or know.  It’s fun!

Hello Tabbruis!  Thank you for coming to my blog and visiting me today!  Emily has been telling me about herself.  Now, (winking at him), I would like to know about one of her favorite characters.  So let’s get started!

Tabbruis, what was the scariest moment of your life?
The scariest moment was when I woke up on the Earth on a rock in the middle of a desert with no knowledge of who or what I was except that I was alone, terribly alone.

Do you play any sports Tabbruis?  You are very athletic looking!
Ah, I do not play sports but I am an excellent swordsman and I love to swim in the ocean.
What are you passionate about these days?  I mean you are a very gorgeous and attractive person!

(Raising an eyebrow and smiling uncomfortably)  Well, my one and only love, Charmeine and the wonderful family she has amassed for us at the Castle Charmeine.  I am so happy and feel so complete with my soul mate.  We cherish all the moments we are together that we act like teenagers in love all the time.  Our desire for each other runs on the surface of our relationship.  We have spent millennia apart, so every second we spend together is priceless!

Tabbruis, what do you do to unwind and relax… huh?

Charmeine and I both love to ride our horses, Tristan and Isolde to the cabana on our private beach and spend the whole day together playing in the water.

Well, are you a morning or night person?

Before I met my love Charmeine, I was definitely a night person.  I preferred to ignore the day and hid in the night away from people.  Now that my love is here, I welcome the morning and sun as I welcome my love, Charmeine.

What makes you happy Tabbruis?

(Smiling wide) Charmeine and I love spending time with our family.  We have been preparing the Castle Charmeine and adding more rooms!  It has been extremely fun working together as a team to do the construction!  (Shaking his head)  Charmeine and I are especially looking forward to one room being done!  You will just have to wait to find out what it is!

… Oh well I have to check up on that!  So, what is the next big thing?

Charmeine and I are having a wonderful time traveling for all the weddings around the world for the inhabitants of the Castle Charmeine!

So Tabbruis, did you buy a castle for Charmeine?

(Shaking his head and laughing out loud.)  No, no, Dmitri and I both owned the castle jointly.  Then we gave the castle to Charmeine to have plenty of room for her family to live with her if they so choose to do!

What one word best describes you Tabbruis?

Do your friends think you are an introvert or an extravert? Why?

Definitely they think I am an introvert and it is true but before I met Charmeine.  I did not interaction with most.  Why?  I guess I was waiting for Charmeine to start my frozen heart.

So, do you have a favorite quote, quip, or saying? What is it?

Yes, I do!   “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!”

Thank you for your insightful interview Tabbruis!

Charmeine woke up and the sun had set with a fireball moon rising outside of the picture window.
She noticed she was wearing a white silk camisole and most of all… smelled roses!  She put her arm up to her nose and smelled the wonderful scent of her rose lotion.  She deduced Tabbruis brought it with him.
Charmeine smiled and felt content.
Charmeine saw Tabbruis in the door way with his legs spread apart and his hands over his chest.  She loved seeing him like that.  He looked like more like a statue, a piece of art, than a man.  Tabbruis was exquisite and perfect, more so than any man she had ever seen in her life.
Tabbruis turned to look at her and saw she was awake.  Tabbruis whispered, “I am sorry Charmeine, you fell asleep.  I wanted you to be comfortable.  I brought you in and changed you out of the wet suit.”
Charmeine said with a smile, “Roses?”
Tabbruis furrowed his brow as he replied, “Yes… I brought a bottle with me.  I thought you would like it.”
Charmeine said inhaling the wonderful scent, “You have no idea how much I love it.”
Tabbruis sighed in relief.
Charmeine whispered, “What did the light-bearer say to the blood-hunter?”
Tabbruis replied in a whisper, “What?” as he walked over to the bed.
Charmeine whispered, “Kiss me.”
Tabbruis bent down and hovered over Charmeine holding her face looking her in the eyes until he kissed her.
The kiss was sweet but full of the longing he had for her and only her.
Charmeine saw his eyes were green pinpoints full of want and she melted into his arms.  She said, “Make love to me husband.”
Tabbruis started to shower Charmeine in kisses.  She began to dispatch her clothes.
Tabbruis held her hand and whispered, “I have all night to make love to you, wife, and I intend to do just that.”
