Reminiscence by C. Marie Mosley : Interview & Excerpt

Reminiscence, a debut novel by C. Marie Mosley, is one that will leave you hanging on every word, every adventure ... one that you will keep clutched to your chest night after night ...

Reminiscence is a story of a girl who is a natural born heroine ... she just doesn't know it yet ...

While living a - what she would call - pretty normal, almost boring teenage life, Coralie Collier begins to sense things changing around her ...

Despite the fact that she lives in the small town of Thessla, with her well-respected, over-protective parents, and keeps to herself mostly, Coralie finds herself feeling unguarded and threatened ... though she has no idea why. Painfully, Coralie is silently struggling with the difficulty in being able to conjure up not much more than bits and pieces of her childhood or present memories ...

Outlandish dreams, bizarre encounters, and untried perils leave Coralie seeking answers about the world around her ...

Join Coralie as she begins to unravel secrets about her heritage, her life, her stolen memories, and her purpose ...

"Confusion, Anxiety, Fear, Realization...Ah, yes...he thought to himself, the realization has set in... The Watcher stood, unmoving, surveying from where he stood, amid the tall dry wheat grass, swaying all around him. Oh, how he wished he had the ability to hear what was going on inside of that house, inside of that room, with truth traveling all around her ... She still has questions, a lot of questions...The Watcher thought to himself. Still watching the realization of her true identity take hold of her, his thoughts resumed. And soon...very soon, she will come looking for the answers to those questions...he slowly allowed a sickening grin to swell across his lips, then allowing his thoughts to continue... and I will be waiting for her."

Welcome Marie! It's great to get this chance to find out a little more about you.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  How did you start writing?

I have always had a love and passion for expressing myself through written word. It has always been a hobby of mine … then one day, an amusing ramble became much more…

Give us your favorite character from a book.

One of my most favorite characters of all time would have to be Miss Elizabeth Bennet in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Her strength, sarcasm and wit, is so compelling.

Also, if I may add a more recent mention, I really love Nicholas Sparks’ characters, Allie and Noah from The Notebook. I relate to them on such an unparalleled level. The love they share simply reminds us of the depth of our own hearts, and how deeply we can love…if we only allow it. I'm a total romantic ... *smiles*

Tell me a little about your current book release.

My current release is the first book in the Empyreal Warrior Series – Reminiscence. It is about a teenage girl who is a natural born heroine – she just doesn’t know it. She has missing pieces to her memory. As things slowly start shifting into place, she begins to discover truths that have been hidden all around her.

What will be your next release?

I am currently in the process of completing the sequel to Reminiscence. It will be the second installment, Book Two, of the Empyreal Warrior Series. Also, I will be announcing the official title of Book Two on my website very soon, along with its cover reveal to follow soon after.

Who is your favorite author?

Jane Austen – hands down!

What are some personal quirks you have while writing?

I usually have some sort of music playing in the background … and it’s usually late at night, when everything is quiet, and it’s just me and all of the characters in my head. Sometimes inspiration strikes at the random times – and that is why I carry a notebook with me at all times!

Give one word that describes you.

FunnyPassionateLovingLaughingOutgoingSarcasticLoyalHonestHyperactiveCaringHardworkingMotivatedAllSmiles … Wow – what a SINGLE descriptive word … *says dryly, hoping no one notices*

Okay, Okay, yes – I know that it was a bunch of words strung together without spaces … and yes – I was trying to make look like one word … and no – I didn’t really think it would fool you *looks sideways slyly out of the corners of both eyes*

Why should we readers read your book?

Because it’s … AWESOME! *singing the word in a high pitched tone*

The Empyreal Warrior Series, as a whole, though surrounded by fantasy and fiction, is full of real, raw emotion … and quite a bit of action.

But to elaborate a little more - This novel is an infectious read - one that will be a fan favorite, one that will be craved, and one that will be sought out amongst others of its kind. Reminiscence is an action-packed, keep-you-on-your-toes, page-turner... and as if that's not enough to draw you in, then the blossoming romance between Coralie and Courtland will keep you clutching Reminiscence to your chest night after night.

So, what does the future hold for you? For the Empyreal Warrior Series?

Ah, the future … let me look into my crystal ball … I see good things, no, great things to come … more things to come. There will be more from the Empyreal Warrior Series … just wait until you get the sequel in your clutches. Further in the future? Well, you just never know what other feathers I may have stuck in my hat. So keep your eyes and ears open … you may catch a glimpse of surprise. ..

Thank you for taking the time for this interview.

You are so welcome! Thanks for having me!

 C. Marie Mosley grew up in a small town in the south, where she enjoyed being able to stay up all hours of the night staring at the stars of a summer night and thinking up characters, scenes, and stories to write down in her journals. While some she kept to herself, others she would share with friends and family. An avid reader, she spent much time dreaming of the day she would publish some of her own short stories and novels.

After high school, C. Marie shelved her dream of writing for a short while, as she felt the need to focus on her courses of study in college. She has always had a thirst for knowledge of all sorts, literature being a favorite. And though she went in other directions of study, she always kept literature and writing hidden, sort of as her getaway place of blissful retreat.

After college, studying everything under the sun, she moved to a bigger small southern town and married her best friend and love of her life, beginning her happily ever after.

After a number of years spent teaching, C. Marie decided, with the nudge and push of her wonderfully insistent husband, to submit her writing to be published. - Thanks Love! -

Reminiscence is C. Marie's first novel and she continues her dream of writing adventures to share with others.

I always enjoy reading along and facing new adventures with the heroine of the story. I sometimes imagine that it's me and what would I do in her place.
